Picking his nose. Haha.

Rice Cakes

Elijah's new favorite snack is rice cakes. He knows exactly where they are kept and will open the drawer, pull out the bag and bring them to you. If I would let him he would only eat rice cakes all day, every day.

We had a playdate at the park today. Here are a few cute pictures I took.

Naptime

Elijah's bedroom curtain was open slightly yesterday during his naptime so I peaked in while I was outside. Here is how I found him sleeping. Both arms back over top of his head and one foot resting up on the slats on the back of the crib.

The little man

We finally had Elijah baptized on Sunday. Here he is looking like a little man.
And the Happy Howe Family

And so it begins

Elijah has been taking a few steps here and there for the past few weeks. This afternoon he walked to the door to greet Jim when he came home from work. After that we went to the Poor Man's Aquarium (aka Petsmart) where he saw a dog. Once he saw that dog he was off and running towards the dog. We got it on video when we got home. Check out his cool new shoes and his new haircut.

All Dressed Up

I finally found an outfit for him to wear on the cruise. (please don't mind the mess on the floor ... still painting the cabinets)

New Blog

Well I decided to create a recipe blog as a way to help keep track of all the great recipes that I've come across online and to share some of my favorites. Take a look if you'd like and bookmark as I have a ton to post. Since staying at home cooking/baking is something that I really enjoy.

13 month stats

We had Elijah's 1 year appt today and all is well. He went through a growth spurt since he was last there. Weighed in at 21 lbs 5 oz, up from just under 17 lbs . I didn't see his length but he's in the 50th percentile for that. All I know is that he is now tall enough to pull things off the console table, get into the drawers, touch the buttons on the cable box and pull things off of the counter in the kitchen. Yes yes, my day is hectic chasing him around but it's great. He had to get some shots, did great with the first one, cried for the 2nd and 3rd but was his complete self at lunch throwing food on the floor for Charlie and running around the house. He's up to taking 11 steps by himself. He'll walk all over holding onto a finger. And you better not be in his way when he's behind his push walkers because he will literally run you down with a devilish grin on his face. His newest thing to do is give kisses.

I gave him applesauce the other day for a snack. Apparently it tasted very good since he tried to lick the bowl clean.

August 16th

He loves his bananas.
So as I've said already, we're painting our kitchen cabinets. Today I took the one drawer out so it could be primed. Elijah took everything out of the cabinet under where that drawer was, stepped inside and shut the drawer. He was the perfect height.

Every day is an adventure

This is how our week started off:
Monday: while Jim was changing Elijah's diaper, Elijah peed on the couch then pooped on the living room floor.
Tuesday: I was outside painting the cabinet doors. Elijah was playing on the driveway. Next thing I know, Elijah found the paint that I hid behind the trashcans. The paint can tipped over and of course I didn't have the lid on tight so the lid opened and paint went everywhere. Elijah had paint all over his legs and shorts. The driveway now has a nice picasso look to it.
Today: Elijah woke up and he's starting to cut another tooth. Knock on wood once again so far so good with teething.

A few pics from this week

I've been busy this past week priming our kitchen cabinets so there really isn't anything all to exciting to share.

Elijah and mommy watching nursery rhymes before bed. (Yes we are well aware that he has on Christmas pajamas haha)

What's a mom to do when she has clothes to bring inside and also a little one to carry in? Plop the little one in the basket for a ride.

Happy Birthday!

A few days early but since we're heading out of town it's easier to do the posting tonight.

Repurposing

This has been my most resent project.

I had an old small dresser that we weren't using and was just sitting collecting dust.
What I needed was a bookshelf.
A lightbulb went off in my head.
James thought I was a little crazy when I told him my idea.

A few cut boards. A little decorative trim for the sides. And a light coat of paint later.
Here's the final product.

Trouble

That's Elijah's newest nickname. I thought his shirt was fitting today.
The other day I found him in the playroom with the closet door open and coloring the grout on the floor with a marker he found. I must say though he for the most part stayed within the lines. haha. I'm going to have my hands full. :0)

Yummy cucumber

Elijah apparently wasn't feeling the Morningstar Nuggets I made him for lunch and instead wanted my cucumber. He was very content after I gave it to him. Just gnawed and gnawed and gnawed away at it.
Yesterday he apparently wanted a snack. He opened up the drawer, pulled out his crackers, opened up the bag and started to eat them. Pretty funny to watch.

Poor Charlie

He is so incredibly good with Elijah and puts up with so much torture. Elijah's newest idea of fun is chasing Charlie around the house with his walker. He gets up some good speed and then rams Char when he's least expecting it. Elijah loves grabbing and pulling on Charlie's harness and dog tags. This morning Elijah wanted to take him for a walk around the house. I think Charlie is so good because he knows he will get some extra scooby snacks.
