To Ikea and beyond

Today we went to Philly to get our rings shined up and of course that means a stop at Ikea for lunch (hot dog and fat free frozen yogurt). Elijah was having fun in the kid dept and found a little chair that he liked. Some camera phone pics.

Good news and updates

Well the good news is that James was offered a job today. His little vacation is coming to an end. He'll be working where he was working prior to this previous job.

We're still working hard on the house. The new wall is now up and primed. We just need to paint the wall and door then put up the casing around the door and the crown and base mouldings. Oh and also paint the door. Then we will be finished! Well with that part.

We had some extra trim leftover from something so James used it to trim our electric box that I painted with the chalkboard paint. He even made a little ledge to put our chalk!
And of course some pix of Elijah:

It's about time he starts helping out around the house. :)

Mr. Spike

Hair all spiked up at night = horrible bed head in the am

Trying again with the sippy cup this morning. He now holds it by himself just needs to figure out that he needs to lift it up higher for the liquid to come out. So today we bought him a cup with a straw so we'll see how he does with that tomorrow.

Look ma - no hands!

Mmmm this tastes good!

What can I get into today to drive mommy crazy
He's been starting to suck his thumb here and there throughout the week.

6 month check-up

Elijah had his 6 month check up this morning. The pediatrician was impressed with all that he's able to do already. His weight was 16 lbs 6 oz and he was 25 1/2 inches.

For fun I dressed him up in the outfit that he came home in. Surprisingly it still fit just very tight.

3 days old

6 months 3 days

The Wall is Up

Well on one side at least. My Bob Villa wanted me to update with the dining room/hallway wall. For those who knew about the work that we were doing and thought that the door going to the new room was going to be farther down we had to do a switcheroo. Once we got down to the studs we realized that down that way was a main support for the house. No biggie or anything. haha. So the door was moved down. Now we just need to put up the dry wall on the other side do all the mudding and put up the new closet door. I must say though that it looks really nice and has changed the look of the house.

My Very Own Bob Villa

This is what happens when my husband has too much time on his hands. Yes you are viewing the studs to the dining room wall. We've been putting off working on our new room due to time constraints and now James has some extra time so we decided to begin the work. Hopefully very soon there will be a new door there leading to the new bedroom and a nice new wall. I'm getting pretty good at mudding the drywall and fixing the ceiling divets from taking down the popcorn ceiling.

On a sidenote - Elijah is beginning to push himself up onto his knees. I need to start really getting serious about babyproofing the house. He also turns himself around in a circle by pushing himself up and over.

Another view of the destruction

What used to be the hallway closet and will now be closed off so that the closet entrance is in the new room

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy 1/2 a year birthday dear Elijah! Happy Birthday to you!

These photo shoots with the signs each month are getting more and more difficult as Elijah becomes more and more mobile.

Sippys, Bath and Flurries

Elijah has become very obsessed with Drinking glasses, always grabbing them when we're trying to take a drink. He has the idea right for drinking (cup up to mouth) but the water comes drooling out. We got out his bottle to cup trainer yesterday and he did pretty good with the sippy cup.

As you can see Elijah has been growing like a weed. In his baby tub his knees were almost folded up to his chest so we thought it was time to retire that. I heard good reviews on a certain tub and found it on amazon so I bought it for his 1/2 year present. Here he is test driving it. Nice and spacious with lots of room for his duckies and squirters.

And it tastes good too!

He woke up from his nap to snurries. It ended up being a light coating of snow, which we weren't expecting.

His first bath in his new tub.

Kneebouncers & a Blanket shortage

So I came across this website a few weeks ago and Elijah just absolutely loves it. He becomes so excited and also mesmerized with it. This evening after dinner we played a little bit with it.

Watching Daddy make his salad for dinner

Apparently we have a shortage of blankets in the house. This is what I woke up to after falling asleep on the couch one night this evening. (Yes those are pillows on Jim used as a blanket)

Goodbye Swing & More Pics

We decided that it's time to retire the swing. Elijah has been sitting up completely straight in it and when he does this his weight makes the swing not swing. So until next baby it will be in our "cottage".

A funny pic from our photo shoot yesterday.

It was a rainy day so we stayed inside today and spent some time in the jolly jumper. Elijah thought he was supposed to eat it and not jump.

You talkin to me?

The Blog

I thought this would be a good way to keep everyone updated with what is going on with the Howe Family. Elijah is almost 6 months old already. We're still doing lots of work to the house. And Charlie is ... well Charlie.

Here are a few pics from the past week:

Apparently Charlie wants to be the baby in the house again.

Playing before church

It's been really nice this week so we've been going for walks to the park every day.

The other day I was playing around with the settings on the camera so we did an impromptu photo shoot.
